Case Studies
Real projects. Real results. See how we partner with clients to bring their stationery products to market.
OEM School Supply Program — Major US Distributor
Client
A top-5 US office supply wholesaler supplying 2,000+ school districts with annual stationery contracts.
Challenge
The client needed a reliable OEM partner for 50,000+ fabric pencil cases per year with consistent quality, CPSIA compliance, and seasonal delivery windows that couldn't slip — school starts the same week every year. Previous supplier had inconsistent stitching quality and missed two consecutive delivery deadlines.
Solution
We developed a dedicated production line for this single SKU with custom QC checkpoints. Implemented AQL 2.5 sampling at three production stages. Created buffer inventory to absorb seasonal demand spikes. Provided monthly production reports with photographic QC documentation.
Results
Three consecutive years of on-time, in-full delivery. Defect rate below 0.3% across all shipments. Client expanded the program from one SKU to five SKUs covering three grade levels. Annual order value increased 320% from the initial contract.
Custom Brush Cleaning Kit — National Art Supply Chain
Client
A national art supply retailer with 80+ brick-and-mortar locations and a growing e-commerce channel across the US.
Challenge
The retailer wanted to launch a house-brand brush cleaning kit (washer + basin + drying rack) that could compete with name-brand alternatives at a 30% lower retail price point. Needed premium look and feel, solvent-resistant materials, and packaging that would stand out on retail shelves next to established art brands.
Solution
Our ODM team designed a three-piece kit with graduated brush washers, stackable cleaning basins, and a collapsible drying rack. Used PP with UV-stabilized color additives to prevent yellowing. Developed custom retail packaging with hang-sell capability and transparent window for shelf visibility. Produced 5,000 kits for the initial store rollout.
Results
The kit became the retailer's #2 best-selling art accessory within 6 months. 42% gross margin at the target retail price. Reorder within 8 weeks of initial shipment. Client subsequently commissioned two additional kit configurations for different skill levels.
Branded Corporate Gift Program — Fortune 500 Technology Company
Client
A Fortune 500 technology company needing premium branded desk accessories for their annual global developer conference (15,000 attendees).
Challenge
15,000 units of a custom bamboo pen holder with debossed logo, delivered to three conference venues across two continents within a 10-day delivery window. The client's brand team had exacting color specifications for the bamboo finish and required unit-level QC on logo placement consistency.
Solution
We produced 16,500 units (10% overage for QC rejects) on a compressed 5-week timeline. Built a custom debossing jig to ensure consistent logo depth and placement. Implemented 100% visual inspection on logo quality rather than AQL sampling. Split the shipment into three FCL containers with staggered release to match venue delivery schedules.
Results
99.7% of units passed final inspection. All three venue deliveries arrived on time. The client's events team reported zero attendee complaints about the gift item. The company has since ordered two additional runs for subsequent events and added three new desk accessory SKUs to the program.
Amazon FBA Private Label Launch — Stationery Brand
Client
An e-commerce entrepreneur launching a private-label stationery brand on Amazon.com, starting with a line of EVA hard-shell pencil cases targeting the back-to-school season.
Challenge
The client needed ODM support — they had a concept but no design files. Required low MOQ (500 units per SKU) for initial market testing, FBA-compliant packaging, UPC barcodes, and CPSIA children's product certificates. Timeline was tight: product needed to be in Amazon FBA warehouses 6 weeks before back-to-school peak.
Solution
Our design team developed three EVA case SKUs with market-competitive features (double zipper, internal mesh pocket, elastic pen loops) based on analysis of top-selling Amazon listings. Produced samples within 10 days for listing photography. Handled FBA labeling, polybagging, and carton-level shipment plans. Provided CPSIA test reports for Amazon compliance review.
Results
Products launched on schedule — in stock at Amazon 5 weeks before peak season. Two of three SKUs reached top-20 in their category within the first month. The client achieved 38% gross margin at their target retail price. Reordered within 60 days and expanded to 8 SKUs for the following season.
Multi-Year Educational Supply Contract — Canadian School Board
Client
A consortium of three Canadian school boards procuring classroom supplies for 400+ schools serving 200,000+ students.
Challenge
The consortium needed a manufacturer that could supply durable, affordable pencil cases meeting Canadian consumer product safety standards, with bilingual packaging (English/French) and the ability to handle annual ordering cycles with predictable July delivery. Previous supplier had quality consistency issues and lacked CPSIA-equivalent documentation.
Solution
We developed a simplified fabric pencil case design optimized for durability (reinforced corners, heavy-duty zipper) at a price point that fit public school budgets. Produced bilingual packaging and provided full Health Canada compliance documentation. Established an annual production reservation system — the consortium reserves capacity in January for July delivery, smoothing our production schedule and guaranteeing their slot.
Results
Four consecutive annual contracts delivered on time. Defect rate below 0.5% across 80,000+ units. The consortium reported a 60% reduction in parent complaints about pencil case durability compared to the previous supplier. Two additional school boards joined the consortium purchasing agreement in year three.
